Srebreno is a hamlet of Kupari, only 10 km southeast of city of Dubrovnik, on the main road. It was first mentioned already in 1294, when a part of the land of Srebreno was owned by the Benedictine abbey on Mrkan in front of Cavtat. But we know that the settlement was inhabited during Roman times under the name Subbrenum. It was settled by the refugees from Epidaur, today's Cavtat, after its descruction in the 7th century.

Chief occupations are farming and fishing. The area is covered in Mediterranean vegetation such as pine and palm trees. Its inhabitants have traditionally lived off of fishing and agriculture. There is a long sandy beach in Srebreno, safe for children to play and swim, while the surrounding mountains are great for nature lovers and protect Srebreno from northern winds. We recommend Srebreno to those looking for a quiet place in the vicinity of a large tourist destination.

Accommodation can be found in private rooms and apartments, as well as in two camping sites. Recently caught fish, fresh vegetables and fruit can be bought from the inhabitants of Srebreno. There are so many nice places to visit around Srebreno, like places of Mlini, Kupari and Plat nearby, and the cities of Cavtat and Dubrovnik, Elafiti islands or Mljet National Park and island of Korcula which can be reached by ferry.
