The island of Rab with its neighboring islands makes a group of islands located in a very convenient traffic and tourist location in relation to Europe and domestic tourist market. The island of Rab (Arbe) is situated in the northwest-southeast position, parallel to the mainland of the Velebit coastline. The biggest air length of the island of Rab is 22 km. Due to its irregular shape, the width of the island is different.
The island of Rab is an island of marvellous natural diversity, a variety of beautiful beaches, rich historic heritage, long pleasant walks, more than 120 years of experience in organised tourism and to cap it all, the kindness, hospitality and diligence of the island's people.
You can get to the island of Rab by a ferry from the pier Jablanac on the mainland to Mišnjak on the south side of the island. The journey takes 15 minutes and works several times a day the whole year long. Lopar on the island of Rab and Valbiska on the island of Krk are also connected by ferry twice a day through the year and four times daily in summer. Catamaran from Rijeka to the island of Rab travels once a day throughout the whole year.
Beside the wealth of flora on the island of Rab we meet a diverse wildlife, both on land and in water. The natural wealth, rich history and cultural and historical heritage are the bases of tourist activity, which is the main industry with centuries of tradition.
One of the most famous islanders is St. Martin, founder of the state of San Marino. Do not miss the Knight games from 1364., renewed by the association of Rab crossbowmen. It has become the island's most distinctive brand. This Association with its performances throughout Europe promotes also Rab's as Croatian tourism. The medieval summer fair "Rabska fjera" is very unique. It is based on historical heritage, and the participants are craftsmen and artisans of the island.
